We usually have candles out in the condo, but these were new holders. Marina put them out on our coffee table, and the image popped into my mind.
This is Sadie, a 9-year old yellow lab belonging to my mom's friend. This was a couple of days ago. She was a suck.
Next trip to Serbia, I'm going to climb it! I swear!

This was the scene 2 days ago when I went for a walk around our local lake with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. This guy was actually trying to find the bread we had thrown his way.

I found a couple of photos of our ol' dog Lucky about a month ago. They were taken with either my Pentax Spotmatic or Voigtlander Bessa R, both being film cameras. You've got to love a good 50mm prime lens.

I must have been a monkey in a past life. I love me a good forest!

As Marina and I stood on a bridge in Port Credit last week, a flock of pigeons flew over us. I quickly turned on my camera to snap them, but instead only caught one. I really like how it turned out though. But don't worry...this guy had friends.

Lola's 1st birthday is coming up in a few days, so I thought I'd post an image of her that I made last week. I made a similar image nearly 1 year ago. Check it out here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/christianstepien2/3566744547/in/set-72157619144273930/

I've been down the Credit River 3 times in my life. Each time on a rubber dingy. The problem is that the river is not that deep in the summer, and without fail my boat is deflated by the end of the trip. That's ok. I'll be going down again this year.

I've chosen this photo for today's post because it was taken in one of my favourite places...the Niagara Escarpment.
For the past little while I have been working on a documentary film featuring my Escarpment photographs, and I'm happy to say that it's done! You can check out, "The Escarpment", at www.christianstepien.com right now! Let me know what you think!

Marina and I visited Port Credit the other day on our tour around Mississauga. I took advantage of the melting snow puddles to make this image of the lighthouse.

Although appearing menacing, Hades is actually a really nice cat. He just also happens to be Lola's good friend. When Lola runs up to him to give him a lick, he flops onto his side and plays dead. Yep...a killer.

Marina and I spent the day driving around the city, making photographs and relaxing. As we were leaving Kariya Park (the Japanese garden in the middle of the city, which was created in honor of Mississauga's twin city, Kariya, Japan), Marina noticed that a tree had buds on it. The first of the year (as far as we've seen). So yep...Spring is almost here!

Our late pooch, Lucky, trying to figure out what I was doing on the other side of the fence. I was, in fact, trying to capture of image of her trying to figure out what I was doing on the other side of the fence.

This farm was on the border of Mississauga and Brampton. They tore it down a year after I made this image. It's so sad watching farms be replaced with houses & buildings. I know people need places to live, but It just feels...wrong.

I remember making this image very clearly back in January of 2006. My brother and I were up in Caledon, Ontario on a REALLY cold, windy day. This was the road ahead of us.

As beautiful as a foggy, snowy forest scene looks, I really hope the snow is done for the year. Now that we've had a taste of spring, I can't go back!

I was going for a very minimal look. What do you think? Does it work?

I found this old image that I posted years ago on a former incarnation of this blog. Skating at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto at Christmas time always puts me in the spirit of the season.

I remember this day in September, 2006. I was heading up to the Niagara Escarpment (via Georgetown), and I came to a stop on the 407 overpass on 9th line at the Mississauga/Georgetown border. I love when storms come in. I find the challenge is trying to make these photos appear ominous without completely losing details in the dark areas.

This image is from December, 2006. It's so desolate. I remember passing this house many times and thinking, "Why can't I make a good image of this place!?!". I guess I had and didn't realize it yet.
