Lola, looking somber, yet dignified.
Good ol' Lola. She looks like she's on something.
Ya, this one was pretty nuts.
I decided to make a diptych because these images work so well as one. I love Victoria Day!
The newest terminal at Toronto's Pearson International Airport. Well, TECHNICALLY it's MISSISSAUGA's airport. Yes, I'm claiming it for my city!
This little guy was hanging out on the 8th hole tee off bench at White Spruce Park the other day.
As a group of us played some disc golf yesterday, I stopped to check out the dandelions.
I always make it a point to rescue snails when they're walking in dangerous places. They're one of those creatures that hurt no one...like butterflies. Ok, well maybe they hurt farmers if they eat their crop. But, still.
I haven't seen Lola in a while. I need to drive up to Ilderton and say, "hi".
When I saw this guy flying around the "Bleeding Hearts", I went into macro mode! This was actually quite difficult to make. It was around 7pm, with the light fading. I set the ISO to 1600 to make the image as sharp as possible (and personally, I don't mind a bit of noise), but he just moved so fast that it still came out a bit blurry. I'll have to keep checking back to see if I can make a sharper image.
I made this image 4 years ago this month in Quebec City. It was early morning, and I was walking behind Chateau Frontenac. The scene unfolded in front of my eyes.
I don't know. Just thought it was an interesting subject matter.
So, I haven't seen her since I made those crazy images back in mid-April, but apparently Penelope made an appearance yesterday in my Mom's backyard. When she heard my Mom open the door, she came running for some peanutty goodness.
I spent the majority of the weekend playing disc golf with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. We played 27 holes, and man are my legs tired. What a great game, though!
Still haven't found the headwaters yet. But I will!
I FINALLY have the internet back up and running at my place. What a drag! You don't realize how dependent you are on internet access until it's gone.
So here's the final, "Lucky In The Backyard" image. She was such a pain in the butt, yet always willing to pose for a shot.
I had a dream two nights ago that I was playing with Lola. My wife called me a loser.
This photo was made a couple of weeks ago, and already it's outdated! The leaves are out in full force! But man, is it cold!
It's my wife and my second wedding anniversary! On the 16th it'll be our 12th year together! Happy Anniversary!
We have a couple of Hyacinths on our balcony, and seeing as how today is Mother's Day tomorrow is my second wedding anniversary, I thought I'd commemorate the two occasions with a couple of days of flowers!
A little lake in Barrie, Ontario.
A macro look at the transformation from wood to charred wood.
A sombre moment with the late Lucky Stepien.
Or, just stop and check out the mini-buds that have fallen from a tree.
So, as the story goes, I was walking through my condo last week when I looked out from my balcony and saw this scene unfolding. I stopped walking, started screaming for my camera, tripod, etc., and I couldn't find my light meter! Knowing that the moon's luminance is 250 candles/square foot, I metered accordingly and with my last glass plate I made this exposure!
Actually, the scene just reminded me of the classic Ansel Adams image, so I took the picture.
Made at the amazing Horseshoe Valley resort.

I've been away for a couple of days, but I'm back! And what an exciting couple of days it's been. First off, the voting has closed for the National Geographic "Your Shot" competition, and I would like to thank the literally THOUSANDS of people who voted for Penelope! What an amazing feeling to know that so many people support the art that I make. I'll let you know what the verdict is, hopefully sometime next week.
In other news, Penelope has been in the news! A few days ago she was featured in 3 major U.K. newspapers, as well as a T.V. talk show. I'll add the links below. She has no clue what a celebrity she has become! I wish I were able to train her! Then I could make some REALLY incredible shots! But you know wild animals...you have work around their schedule and habbits.
So here she is...Penelope, making her U.K. debut!
