Creepy little bugger, isn't he? Actually, he was really cool. The only squirrel in the backyard that trusted me.
The scene from my balcony a few days ago. Very bizarre.
I took a day off from the site yesterday to paint my office green! It's lookin' great, but I'm a little dizzy from the fumes. Today, however, I spent some time with Brownie. Forgetting both my DSLR and my Canon P&S, I used what I had at my disposal; that being my iPhone. For a phone, it takes some great photos!
So, this is Brownie at her front door. She runs along the underpart of the actual door, then dives down into the hole. When her peanut is safe, she comes back up, runs to the right of where her head is, and then comes out a larger hole to see me.
She was explaining to me her thoughts on the ethics of peanut flavour enhancement technology.
So, after Penelope (the chipmunk) hit the big time with her face plastered all over worldwide newspapers and magazines, she has kept her distance from me. However, last week a new chipmunk came running up to my feet looking for a hand out. This is Brownie, who's a bit smaller than Penelope and has more brown in her coat then her furry mate. More to come!
This was the night sky, as seen from Cameron, Ontario last week. Note the satellite streaking across near the bottom right.
You can download my new photo essay, "Lola", in both .pdf and .epub (for your iPhone/iPad iBooks app) at http://photoessays.christianstepien.com! If you would like to add it to iBooks, simply download the .epub file, add the file to your iTunes library, and sync it with your device. Enjoy!
I'm not really anti-Tim Hortons. My wife likes this picture, though.
In the last addition to my "Dragonfly" series, we find our friend hanging out in the daylilys. When asked why he was there, he responded, "I like orange".
Say, "Insects!" ('cause...they eat other insects...not cheese...get it?).
Just resting between flights.
I'm back from a nice long weekend up at Sturgeon Lake, and I've returned with some great photographs! This is the first in a small "Dragonfly" series that I shot up there. In this first installment, he's wondering what that giant black box in his face is.
Not really the usual "fine-art" photograph that I usually post, this one was made with my iPhone. I just love her face, though!
I'll be up at the cottage for a few days, so the blog will be post free until Monday. Have a great weekend!
This was the scene in front of my in-laws' building after a storm last week.
This was Lola, last summer, passed out in Christine's pants as she swam in Sturgeon Lake.
Now for a little break from the animal images. It wasn't so much the trees I was interested in when I made this image, it was the long shadows they cast on their lawn.
I told her a joke about why a cat crossed the road.
How could you not love this face!?!
This is Bishop, a 2-year old husky and friend to Lola. I asked him to smile for the camera, and he obliged.
Yep. Some dogs like bones. Lola likes corn cobs.
This was one crazy, happy accident! Spazz, Lola's buddy, is predominantly white except for his dark face. I made this image on the backyard deck, in shadow, with the background behind Spazz in bright daylight. The camera, having a difficult time metering the scene, metered for Spazz's dark face but blew out the rest. One great accident!
I got to spend the day with Lola! Actually, I was with Lola, her friend Bishop (a husky), and Spazz (the cat), down at the farm in Ilderton, Ontario. What a great day!
He just seemed so fed up with those flies!
In honor of the World Cup, and that I'm going to be heading down to London to see Lola tomorrow, I've posted this action photo of her and Elroy fighting for the soccer ball.
So, last week we found this guy on our balcony. Ya...gross, man.
A barn, sitting on the foothills of the Niagara Escarpment in Caledon, ON.
Another reflection, this one of a really cool house on a hill in Caledon, ON.
